Emerging Technologies Subcommittee

Emerging Technologies is a subcommittee of the Education CommitteeIt is specifically responsible for forwarding the portion of the Education Committee's charge to promote awareness of new technologies and how technology is being used in libraries.  It also aids in executing the 2011 Strategic Plan's Strategic Directions III: Education and Strategic Direction IV: Outreach and Advocacy.

 

The Emerging Technologies Subcommittee is chaired by a member of the CS-SIS.

 

Led by its chair, the committee:

  • works with the Communications committee, may contribute posts about emerging technology topics to the CS-SIS blog
  • serves as an active voice within AALL to provide emerging technology platforms for AALL member use
  • coordinates the Web 2.0 Challenge 

 

The chair:

  • proposes the Cool Tools Cafe program for AMPC and coordinates it if it runs
  • reports briefly on the committee's activities at the CS-SIS business meeting
  • submits a written report to the CS-SIS Chair detailing the committee's activities according to the deadline set by the Chair each year; sends a copy of the report to the Secretary / Treasurer
